There's no secret to turning a favorite photo into an art quilt! David starts with creating a simple pattern by tracing an enlarged copy of the image. That is transfered to freezer paper shapes which are used to cut out the pieces from a wide variety of fabrics. All that's left is his invisible-stitch appliqué technique! A review of machine quilting techniques is included.

Students are required to submit their photo options in advance of the workshop to ensure they have made a good choice.

Learn traditional quilt-making with a little fun flair!

Charlotte is well-known for her fun and easy quilting style. She will show how to look at color in fabric differently and how to pick the perfect fabrics for a piece. You'll learn how to create and sew simple units together for great results. Students may opt for her fabulous pre-cut kits that are available. A perfect class for beginners or for those who love bringing home a finished project after a class!

Like a journal or photo album, quilts illustrate the stories of our lives. Capture the essence of your story and transform it into an original fused art quilt.

Using your own sketch, photo, or even vague idea, you'll make a custom pattern for your design using a digital camera, computer, and projector provided by Laura. You'll learn fusing basics, how to create improvisational quilts, and a quick pattern transfer method that lets you freely translate your ideas into fabric.

"I had a great time thanks to RMAA's planning and professionalism! I have NO negatives and ALL high praise for the week."
